A follow up to last year's excellent "Malignant Undercroft", which was meant to be the project's only manifestation, luckily it has been exhumed for at least one more plunge into necrotrancing realms.
Decrepit and unhinged Raw Black Metal, this album is dedicated to Eerified Catacomb and Nächtlich, two acts to each it clearly owes a great amount of inspiration, but by any means circumscribing itself into merely copy their forms of aural terror. Definitely more musically structured and orthodox, but by any means less harrowing, Gnawed Chrisom delivers oblique, and unhinged mid-paced riffage, delivered in a very dissonant and almost spectral manner, very close to Eerified's riffing style, or projects like early Mons Veneris or Abstavzürulezt, with the guitar's here slightly higher in the mix, and always accompanied by primitive drums, that sound as if played with skeleton bone and rotten deer pelts and the enchanting, cold keys, echoing through the moldy, muddy, rotten crypts. Some songs do gain form in a more orthodox and Punk-ish way, closer to the sound of Nächtlich, such as "The Suckling Shroud" or "Every Drop Is a Blessing from Her".
The Raw Black Metal rottedness is only interrupted by the equally bleak and tormented Dark Ambient interludes.
Another killer record of vile and murderously psychotic mania.
